Experience
Daniel Borkert is an outdoor writer and explorer by passion and a
family medical provider by training. He fell into a teddy-bear cactus on his first camping trip at 2 years old and has been camping ever since then. He grew up in Colorado, where he developed his love for backpacking, hiking, and camping. He also spent almost a decade on the East Coast, where he caved, camped, hiked, and kiteboarded. He then moved to the Pacific Northwest in 2014 to take advantage of the plethora of outdoor opportunities.
Daniel is the founder and editor-in-chief of Outdoor Footprints, a website that features outdoors guides, reviews, and news related to camping and hiking adventures. He writes with a unique perspective that combines current role as a parent, health provider, and his practical experience as an avid outdoorsman. He also draws on his systematic research process to provide accurate and reliable information to his readers.
Daniel’s goal is to share his passion for the outdoors with his family and friends. He enjoys involving his wife and kids in his outdoor pursuits and overcoming the unique challenges and opportunities that come with family-friendly adventures. He hopes to inspire other families to get outdoors and create lasting memories together.

Daniel graduated with honors from the Medical University of South Carolina and Seattle Pacific University. He has worked as a healthcare provider in various settings throughout the USA.
Personal
Outside of his professional and outdoor pursuits, Daniel has many other hobbies and interests. He is interested in web design, gardening, spiritual formation, nutrition, and fitness. He likes to learn new things and challenge himself in different ways. He currently lives in Seattle, Washington with his wife, child, and an energetic Boston Terrier named Zion.
